Getting started with queries

Queries allow you to create and save a set of parameters that find desired items, which can be used throughout the platform. As new items are added, removed, or changed in Perygee the list of items in a query will be dynamically updated. Let’s say, for example, you create a query for high priority assets that’s defined by the type of asset, vendor, and where it’s installed. When you create a new automation or dashboard you can quickly choose the query for high priority assets rather than trying to remember all the attributes and conditions to filter by.

Creating a new query

First, navigate to the Queries page by clicking “Queries” in the left-side panel.

From there, click the “New query” button in the top right. This will open a new query in the drawer where you can edit the properties of a query including the name, icon, and item types to include. You can also add conditions that help specify what items are included in the query such as “Vendor” is equal to “Phillips.”

Viewing query data

After you create a query you can view the matching query items by returning to the Queries page and clicking on the name of the query. You can also view the query data in custom dashboards and spreadsheets.

Editing a query

Select “Queries” in the left-side panel and then click on the “Open drawer” icon in the “Actions” column for the query that you would like to edit. Make and save your changes.
